One of Netflix’s greatest successes in recent years is the Round 6 of the South Korea series (or the game of squid in the original). The plot revolves around the debt people who enter a fatal game looking for a millionaire prize.

With a lot of suspense, tension, drama and social criticism, the story has won the public all over the world and eventually achieved its result in the third season.

Understand the end of the third season of the round 6

Synopsis of the season

Seong Gi-Hun returns with a new purpose: to dismantle the responsible organization of mortal games. Three years after winning the competition, he leaves the plans to leave the country and infiltrate the game of Lula again, in which he needs to face incessant participants and even more cruel challenges.

After an attempt at failed rebellion, almost all insurgents are performed and the climate between the survivors becomes more and more tense. While a brutal new skin -shaped round puts players under maximum pressure, the alliances are broken and the betrayals come to light.

At the same time, off the island, Hwang Jun-I have intensifies his investigations with the help of drones and Captain Park receives direct orders from the enigmatic leader to silence any threat.

The final challenge has the last three participants: Seong Gi-Hun (player 456), Lee Myung-Give (player 333) and a newborn (player 222), son of the player 333 with Jun-Hee (the child won 222 after the sacrifice of Jun-Hee).

The game plans to cross three towers with square, triangular and circle shapes, with a brutal rule: the players should push at least one participant from each tower and the dead say only if the round has officially started by pressing a button.

Gi-Hun’s sacrifice

During the climb of the towers, Gi-Hun protects the child from constant murder attempts by Myung-Gie, who is moved by greed. In the last tower, Gi-Hun and Myung-Gate fight. Both fall, but Gi-Hun manages to resist and still keeps Myung-gi for the coat. The fabric is tearing and Myung-Gumar falls into death.

Even so, Gi-Hun refuses to press the button that the final round would begin, since this would require another death, that of the child. In an act of sacrifice, he sounds himself, dying instead of the child. Therefore, the child becomes the only survivor to the editions of the game that occurred in the seasons two and three.

The fate of the front man and the destruction of the island

Out of the game, the Hwang Jun-I finally find his brother, Hwang in-Ho, the front man. He arrives on the island with the Coast Guard just when he enables the self -destruction protocol. Jun-I have his brother, but hesitates to shoot. In-hu takes advantage of the violation and runs away, taking the child.

The narrative advances six months after these events. We discovered that the child wanted to be edited by Jun-Ho, recognizing that the child was the true winner of the game. In addition, the front man gives an accumulated fortune of gi-hun to his daughter, demonstrating an unexpected and more complex side of his personality,

How the series ends:

The final episode ends with a six-month temporal sequence, which shows the consequences: Gi-Hun died, the child is the winner and the front man remains in general. Connection with the general plot:

The ending concludes Seong Gi-Hun’s journey, the protagonist from the first season, showing his last sacrifice and the continuity of games beyond Korea. It strengthens the themes of the series, survival, sacrifice and persistence of cruelty and systemic greed.

The result suggests that, despite individual sacrifices, the corrupt system behind the games continues and expands internationally.
