The amount of deaths due to the floods that reached the American state of Texas have risen to at least 50, including 15 children.

The minors found that lifeless were participating in a holiday field that was flooded by the waters of the Guadalupe river, which grew more than six meters in two hours due to heavy rains.

The rescue efforts remained uninterrupted from the night between Friday (4) and Saturday (5), but there is the fear that, over time, the possibility of survival of missing children decrease, also due to bad weather that continues to reach the county of Kerr.

The sheriff of Kerr Larry Letia said that 27 girls of about 750 people who participated in a Christian summer camp for children near the river have not yet been found.

Four other people died on the deluge in the counties of Travis, plus two in Burnet and one in green tone, the local authorities said.

“We will continue the research until all the missing people are found,” said Nim Kidd, director of the emergency management of the Texas State Department.

During the celebration of Angelus, Pope Leo XIV complained in English the deaths caused by floods in Texas.
