The film “Superman”, directed by James Gunn and starring David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, arrived in Brazilian theaters with expressive performance. In his first week on display, the film recorded a total of 1.06 million tickets sold between Thursday (10 July) and Sunday (13 July), winning to date the third largest debut in 2025 in Brazil.




Previously, only “Lilo & Stitch” and “A Minecraft Film” had exceeded this performance in the country, with 2.7 million and 1.4 million voices exchanged, respectively. Considering the premiere sessions, the new DC functionality already accumulates 1.37 million viewers in the Brazilian market. This robust onset positions production as one of the candidates for the largest box office of the national year.

The collection in the Brazilian territory also attracted attention. Throughout the weekend, the theaters totaled the revenue of $ 47.27 million and “Superman” replied for $ 25.5 million of this total only in the first four days on display. The estimate, considering the previews, exceeds $ 30 million in the box office.

The movement in the rooms was guided, as “Superman”, by other commercial appeal titles such as “Jurassic World: Restart”, which took 411,000 people, “How to train your dragon”, with 224,000 spectators and “F1: the film”, which attracted about 127,000 payers. Even early sessions of “smurfs”, still without official release, contributed, selling over 62,000 tickets.

In the United States and Canada, the function collected about $ 122 million (about $ 680 million), exceeding the initial performance of “The Man of Steel” (2013), but is still below “Batman vs. Superman” (2016). On a global level, “Superman” led with leisure, for a total of $ 217 million in the box office, more than double the second place, “Jurassic World”, which has reached $ 108.07 million.

Director James Gunn, who has taken on the project with the mission to revitalize the DC’s film universe, opted for an approach that combines action and emotion, focused on a young Clark Kent. According to Warner Bros., the character is represented as someone “moved by compassion and a conviction in the goodness of humanity”.

In the meantime, the international performance strengthens the hero’s global appeal. Although he only reached fourth place in China, with $ 6.2 million, the functionality distinguished himself reaching the best revenue of the year in premiere sessions in the United States, also overcoming “Lilo & Stitch” in this category.

Therefore, “Superman” begins his trajectory on the big screen with a remarkable force in Brazil and abroad, reflecting the public interest in a new phase of the DC universe in cinemas.
