The arrival of Davide Ancelotti in the technical command of Botafogo represents a significant change in the club’s sporting planning. The official presentation of the coach took place on Monday (14 July), at the Nilton Santos stadium, with the presence of John Texor, owner of Saf Alvinegra. The leader stressed that, despite being Davide’s first work as the main coach, he will have full freedom to conduct the team according to his ideas.
According to Textor, the choice of Italian was after an in -depth evaluation of the desired profile for the position. Previously, Botafogo was commanded by Renato Paiva, shot after the elimination in Palmeiras in the 16th of the Club World Cup. The businessman said that the team had lost ambition on the field, a decisive factor for change in the technical command.
“Botafogo Way, now, is Ancelotti Way. He has the complete freedom to do what he wants. He can train players as he wants, implement the game model. Botafogo Way is an idea of a flashy football, the way we like to watch. Davide can paint the painting as wishes.”
The autonomy offered to Ancelotti was emphasized at various moments of the press conference. Textor said not to worry about the fact that this is the first experience of the coach responsible for a professional team.
