The new rule covers the requirements made from April 5 from 2024 onwards. That is, those who had previously denied the request because so far they have not given the necessary minimum contributions.
The lawyer Giovanni Cesar, professor at Zumbi Dos Palmares College, explains that there are two ways to look for the benefit denied to him: in an administrative or judicial way. “Being able to appeal was an excellent thing, because it makes it easier, because everything involving the judiciary, lawyer, we know that it creates a bureaucracy,” he says.
To appeal administratively, the taxpayer can access INSS channels, such as the application My ins or the phone 135.
According to INSS regulatory education, from June 2019 to April 2024, pregnant women presented five contributions to obtain maternity salary. The reduction of the contribution and the end of grace should mainly benefit from autonomous women and housewives.
“The INSS is equivalent to all types of work, including housework. And we know that the autonomous waitress sometimes had the child, he had gestation, the child was born and had to return to work after 10 days, after 20,” says Giovanni. The maternity salary is a benefit lasting 120 days, equivalent to four months.
The change in the INSS standard should have effects on public finances, at home from $ 12 billion for next year and with a gradual increase for the following years. However, the lawyer strengthens the importance of the measure for Brazilian society.
“I see this as a way to dignify the mother, to note the child, to allow her to be born there with a minimum basic structure,” he says.
