‘Bullet Train’: Brad Pitt, under the orders of his action double

David Leitch, director of the film, has a long career as a specialist with titles such as ‘Fight Club’, ‘Troy’ or ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’.

David Leitch and Brad Pitt, director and star of ‘Bullet Train’, already had a history in common before the film. Before getting behind the cameras, David already had a considerable career in the world of cinema… but as a specialist. And, Hollywood coincidences, one of his first jobs was, precisely, as a stunt double for Brad Pitt in ‘Fight Club’. “There’s a sequence where you see Tyler, my character, chasing Edward Norton in a garage. Actually, he is David Leitch”Brad Pitt tells us.

The filmmaker returned to repeat in four of the actor’s most popular films: ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ (2011), ‘Spy Game’ (2011), ‘Troy’ (2004) and ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’ (2005). “The ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’ in which Angelina’s character hits Brad’s character with the car… Actually, it’s not Brad, it’s me!”Leitch recalls. And he adds: “We worked together on several films, we made a good team. I had a good time”.

From Pitt to Van Damme

But Pitt has not been the only star he has had the honor of ‘dubbing’. He has also taken the place of Jean-Claude Van Damme in ‘The Order’ and ‘Replicant’, both released in 2001. And, among his credits as a specialist, we cannot overlook titles like ‘Blade’, ‘Matrix Reloaded’, ‘Matrix Revolutions’, ‘Constantine’ or the series ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’.

His directorial debut came in 2004 with ‘John Wick (Another Day to Kill)’ which he co-directed with Chad Stahelski. Three years later came ‘Atomic’, which was followed by ‘Deadpool 2’ and ‘Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw’. Among his upcoming projects are ‘The Fall Guy’, an action film starring Ryan Gosling; and the miniseries ‘Hot Air’, which will bring to television the life of businessman Richard Branson, in whose shoes Andrew Garfield will play.
