Another tragedy, this time that involves a premature child dies after being shot down by a six -year -old boy in the hospital
A tragic case at the Jeanne-De-Flantre Pediatric Hospital in Lille, in northern France, was investigated by the local judicial police. A premature child, identified as Zayneb-CassandraHe died after suffering from cranioencephalic trauma within the neonatal unit. The accident involved a six -year -old boy who was found alone next to the child last Friday (11). Although he was saved and sent to intensive care, the child did not resist injuries. He was seven and a half months old and was the first daughter of a 23 -year -old girl.
Witnesses reported that the boy circulated freely through the hospital corridors and even invaded other rooms of the unit. The child’s grandmother revealed that a nurse even warned the boy’s mother on his son’s behavior, who had already shown interest in Zayneb on another occasion. At that moment, he commented that the child “looked like a doll” and was removed from the room by family members. A few days later, he was found next to the child, who was lying on the neonatal unit floor.
According to the main line of investigation, the boy may have tried to keep the child from the diaper, which would have caused the fall that caused a fatal trauma. The hospital confirmed that she is leading an internal investigation to clarify how the boy has managed to access the limited area and stay alone with the child. The management of the unit also contributes to the police authorities to identify possible failures in the hospital safety and surveillance protocols.
To date, the French authorities have not reported if the legal officials for the six years will be formally responsible for the accident. The case raises questions about surveillance within the hospital areas and on the safety measures adopted to protect vulnerable patients.
