Moth of Edna De Cassia, classic by Jorge Bodanzky and Orlando Senna censored in the military dictatorship returns to the big screen in a 4K detected version
Mixing of documentaries and fiction, the restored 4K version of IRACEMA – Amazonic Flash (1976), documentary of Jorge Bodanzky AND Orlando Sennaplayed by Edna de CassiaHe returns to the Brazilian theaters this Thursday 24 July, 50 years after the film was censored by the military dictatorship of Brazil.
With the distribution of Gullane+, the theaters of 13 States of Brazil are preparing to receive the characteristic that portrays the meeting of a young indigenous and a truck driver, happy with the alleged progress of the Transamazon.
Gradually, while the two characters approach, the images captured in 16 mm reveal what is behind the “economic miracle” so called: a real record of forest deforestation, grab, sexual exploitation and a series of normalized violations in the name of development. Therefore, the restoration saves not only the aesthetic impact of the film, but also its value as a historical document.
Considered one of the 100 best Brazilian films of all time by the Brazilian Association of Film Critics (Abraccine), the film collects prizes in this half century of history, such as the four trophies that won in 1980 at the Brazilia Festival. Now, just before returning to cinemas across the country, the film was presented in the latest editions of the Rio Festival and the Berlin Festival.
