Kevin Smith’s new cinema has received a bombshell, but the director has questions about it

Director Kevin Smith is a man who wears a lot of hats, and I’m not just talking about the literal hats for his head. In addition to his lengthy film and television work both on and off camera, which includes half of Jay and Silent Bob’s duet with his old friend Jason Mewes (although another actor almost ended up playing Jay), he is also a broadcaster. for podcaster, comic writer, comic shop owner, and podcast owner. We can now add a cinema owner to his bona fide list, as it was recently announced that Smith will purchase The Atlantic Moviehouse in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey. However, a few days after the big news, this theater received a bomb threat, but Smith has a few questions about it.

Kevin Smith shared instagram that the Atlantic Moviehouse received a call Saturday from someone asking their manager if Smith was buying the theater. Upon receiving confirmation, this unidentified individual, calling from a California phone number, claimed that if the purchase was successful, there would be “bomb threats”. The police have since been notified and while Smith’s daughter Harley Quinn Smith fears this is a legitimate threat to the theater, which is changing its name to SModcastle Cinemas, Smith sees it from a different angle. She as she said:

* I * think it’s a joke about how my films have “bombed” cinemas. So … should I laugh at the shadow or worry about a warning? Thoughts?

Kevin Smith is not one to shy away from being self-deprecating about his work (especially the harsh criticism yoga briefs), then he, thinking this person is joking about some of his movies not doing well at the box office, continues his joke. However, in this case, it is probably best to err on the side of caution and treat the call seriously, even if he is alone, like the person who told what happened, “some children”. We hope that this situation will be resolved soon so that people who work in the cinema do not have to worry about their own life.

Having attended The Atlantic Moviehouse as a young man, Kevin Smith decided to buy the cinema along with his business partners Ashley DiGennaro, Jeff Swanton and Ernie O’Donnell (who is also co-owner of the SModcastle podcast hall). The deal isn’t finalized yet, but in addition to changing the theater’s name, Smith has big plans for its use. says the director NJ.com which plans to host live events, including podcast shows and script readings, at what will be SModcastle Cinemas, and will live in the apartment above the theater whenever he’s in town. Smith also wrote a film set in 1986 in a movie theater, so naturally he intends to use that space to film the production in the future.

Kevin Smith’s next movie is what we’ve been waiting for Employees III, which released its first trailer last month and will premiere in the US via Clerks III: The Convenience Tour, as well as in theaters September 13-15 via Fathom Events. Smith is also on deck for showrun Masters of the Universe: Revolutionsequel to the Netflix series Masters of the Universe: Revelation, also directed by Smith.
