We can now add a cinema owner to his bona fide list, as it was recently announced that Smith will purchase The Atlantic Moviehouse in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey. However, a few days after the big news, this theater received a bomb threat, but Smith has a few questions about it.
Kevin Smith shared instagram that the Atlantic Moviehouse received a call Saturday from someone asking their manager if Smith was buying the theater. Upon receiving confirmation, this unidentified individual, calling from a California phone number, claimed that if the purchase was successful, there would be “bomb threats”. The police have since been notified and while Smith’s daughter Harley Quinn Smith fears this is a legitimate threat to the theater, which is changing its name to SModcastle Cinemas, Smith sees it from a different angle. Kevin Smith is not one to shy away from being self-deprecating about his work (especially the harsh criticism yoga briefs), then he, thinking this person is joking about some of his movies not doing well at the box office, continues his joke. However, in this case, it is probably best to err on the side of caution and treat the call seriously, even if he is alone, like the person who told what happened, “some children”. Having attended The Atlantic Moviehouse as a young man, Kevin Smith decided to buy the cinema along with his business partners Ashley DiGennaro, Jeff Swanton and Ernie O’Donnell (who is also co-owner of the SModcastle podcast hall).
