North Korea has no interest in any proposal or proposal of South Korean reconciliation, the powerful sister of its leader, Kim Jong Una, in the first response to the peace proposals of the South Korean liberal president Lee Jae Myung said on Monday.
There was a cautious optimism in the South that the North could respond positively and even show the desire to return to the dialogue, after Pyongyang also turned off its advertising speakers, a measure that, according to Lee, came first of all.
Kim You Jong, a senior authority of the North Korean power party who presumably speaks on behalf of his leader, said that Lee’s promise to commit the security alliance between South Korea and the United States has shown that it is no different from its hostile predecessor.
“If South Korea plans to reverse all the consequences of (their actions) with some sentimental words, there could be no greater calculation error than this,” Kim said in the comments transmitted by the KCNA official press agency.
Lee, who came into office on June 4, after winning the first elections after the conservative Yoon Suk Yeol row was removed due to a failed martial law attempt, promised to improve the ties of Pyongyang who have reached their worst level over the years.
Among the gestures to alleviate the tension, lee suspended the transmissions of speakers who transmitted anti-north propaganda through the border and prohibited balloons with flyers from activists who had irritated Pyongyang.
Kim, the North Korean authority, defined these measures an inversion of harmful activities that South Korea would never start.
“In other words, it’s not even something that deserves our evaluation,” he said.
“Once again, we clarify the official position that, whatever the policy established in Seoul or the proposal made, we are not interested, we do not sit with South Korea and there is nothing to discuss.”
After Kcna’s comment on Monday, Lee said that it is important to restore trust among neighbors.
The South Korean Ministry of Unification, in charge of taking care of the links between the two countries, said that Kim Yong’s comments “show that the distrust wall between south and north is very high due to hostile policy and clash in recent years”.
South Korea will maintain reconciliation and cooperation with the spokesman for the North Ministry Koo Byooung-Sam in a press conference.
