Paramount has announced a Christmas date for the release of the new “Sonic” movie. “Sonic 3: The Movie” will be released on December 20, 2024 in the United States.
The date was originally set aside for an animated Smurfs musical, which the studio postponed to February 14, 2025.
Who still has a premiere scheduled for December 20, 2024 is “Avatar 3”, by James Cameron. Paramount could bet that this film has already changed the date several times.
“Sonic 3” is expected to be directed by the same director as the previous films, Jeff Fowler, and bring back James Marsden, Jim Carrey and Ben Schwartz.
In addition to the third film, Paramount is also developing a streaming series focusing on Knuckles, a character introduced in “Sonic 2”.
Actor Idris Elba, who voiced Knuckles in the film, will return to voice the character in the Paramount + attraction.
