The Kremlin asks caution with nuclear rhetoric after Trump’s order on submarines

On Monday the Kremlin said that everyone should be careful of nuclear rhetoric in his first response to a declaration by the President of the United States Donald Trump who had ordered a repositioning of US nuclear submarines.

The spokesman for the Kremlin Dmitry Peskov reduced the importance of Trump’s announcement last Friday to have ordered two submarines to be displaced in the “appropriate regions” in response to the comments of the former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev on the risk of war among nuclear weapons.

“In this case, it is obvious that the US submarines are already in combat service. This is a continuous process, this is the first thing,” Peskov said to journalists.

“But in general, obviously we would not like to be involved in such disputes and we would not want to comment on it,” he added. “Of course we believe that everyone should have a lot, be very careful with nuclear rhetoric.”

Peskov said that Russia has not seen Trump’s declaration how to mark a nuclear climbing tension.

“We do not believe that we are talking about a climb now. It is clear that they are discussing very complex and very sensitive problems, which, of course, are very emotionally perceived by many people,” he said.

Peskov refused to respond directly when he was asked if the Kremlin had tried to warn Medvedev to reduce the tone of his online altercation with Trump.

“Listen in all members of the members of the countries … they have several points of view on the events that take place, different attitudes. There are people who have a very, very hard mentality in the United States and in European countries, so this is always the case,” he said.

“But the main, of course, is the position of the president (Vladimir) Putin,” he said. “You know that in our country foreign policy is formulated by the Head of State, that is, President Putin.”
