On Tuesday (September 8), 20th Century Studios announced that “The Predator: The Hunt” (Prey) has set audience records on Hulu, Star + and Disney + streaming services in all countries where it has been released.
According to a statement, the production had the largest debut of all content in Hulu’s catalog, including movies and series, ever released in the United States.
The film also had the most viewed premiere on Star + in all of Latin America.
Additionally, it was the largest launch under the Star label on Disney + in other territories, based on hours watched over the first three days of airing.
No specific data relating to the hearing were disclosed. Currently, only Netflix offers transparency on the progress of its productions.
Released in Brazil by Star + last Friday (5/8), “The Predator: The Hunt” also received the most positive reviews of the entire science fiction franchise, reaching 92% acclaim on Rotten Tomatoes, well before 80 % first feature film, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1987. To give you an idea, the third best film, according to US critics, is “Predators”, 2010, with a total of 65%.
The fifth “Predator” is distinguished by an unprecedented approach in the franchise, characterized by the fight between an alien hunter and hunters of a Comanche tribe.
The plot takes place 300 years ago and highlights a female protagonist, a warrior despised by her tribe for being a woman, but who hunts mountain lions and believes she is a survival expert. The character has the best development of anyone who has faced the Predator. In addition, the cast also features the interpretation of Amber Midthunder (the rose of “Roswell, New Mexico), composed mainly of Native American and Native American actors. By the way, the casting makes science fiction a more representative work than many conventional westerns. .
The screenplay was written by Patrick Aison, best known for action and spy series (such as “Jack Ryan” and “Treadstone”), and the production was shot completely silently in Calgari, Canada, under the direction by Dan Trachtenberg.
“The Predator: The Hunt” is only the second feature by Trachtenberg, who passed away after debuting with the big science fiction film “10 Cloverfield Street” six years ago. Since then, he has shot four episodes of the series: “Black Mirror”, “The Boys” and the pilots of the already canceled “The Lost Symbol” and the upcoming “Waterworld” (based on the film of the same name). But his talent was once again confirmed by the many awards received by the new production.
“Director Dan Trachtenberg delivers the best action movie of the year,” wrote the Irish newspaper Irish Times. “The action is propulsive, blood-soaked, but creative,” praised the British newspaper Times. Calling it a “huge improvement” to the franchise, US magazine Variety also noted that “Naru’s (Midthunder) journey gives it an emotional coherence that most ‘Predator’ films have never had.”
