THE Objective over 6.8 million accounts detected and forbidden WhatsApp connected to criminal centers only in the first half of this year. However, even with the treatments adopted by the platform and users, there is still the risk of falling into a financial blow through the application.

To reduce damage, it is essential to act as soon as the fraud is identified. The lawyer Luiz Fernando PlastinoIntellectual property specialist, privacy and data protection and computer law, Barcelos Tuconduva Advogados, explains that one of the first steps is to record a police relationship – a procedure that can be carried out on the Internet, on the Civil Police website.

“The recommendation is also to warn other people who may have been involved without knowing it,” says Plastino. The number used by the scammers should be blocked and reported to the goal.

Plastino also recommends modifying all passwords, especially if the user has clicking on suspected connections or files. “Depending on the case, restoring the phone for factory settings and reinstalling applications and updates can help you get rid of harmful programs,” he says.

Blow with pix

THE Central bank warns that in case of scams, fraud or financial crimes involving transfers through PixIt is essential to contact the bank as soon as possible to inform the accident and request the performance of the values through the Special return mechanism (Med).

The Financial Institute must register an infringement notification in the BC system, so that the bank of the coup d’état can block the money. The two institutions have up to seven days to check if there was really a blow. If the money has already been withdrawn from the criminal account, the return deadline extends up to 90 days and the payment can be made with any amount that is subsequently deposited in the account.

How to protect you?

Knowing the main shots is the first step to identify suspicious actions and protect you. Among the most common there are false benefits and promotions, fraudulent connections, accounts cloning and false profiles.

Plastino explains that when you receive messages from unknown numbers, it is essential for distrust, since criminals often pass through relatives, friends and financial institutions to deceive the victims. “To avoid falling into the blows, you must be suspicious of all the people who are not absolutely sure who they are,” he warns.

Other important precautions include do not click on unknown connections, avoiding downloading suspicious files and transfers only via pix when you are sure of those who are on the other side of the screen.

The goal recommends three simple steps that help prevent scams:

  1. Pause: wait a little before replying;
  2. Question: isn’t it very nice to be true?
  3. Check: Make sure the sender is the one who says it is.

New WhatsApp security tools

To strengthen the fight against digital shots, the goal announced last Tuesday, 5, two new security tools for WhatsApp.

The first is related to groups: every time there is someone who is not found in the list of user contacts that adds it to an unknown group, a summary will be displayed with important information on that group, as well as security suggestions. The user can leave the group directly on this screen without having to open the conversation.

The second feature will display a notice with information on the account every time the user begins a conversation with someone who is not saved in his contact program.
