Prey is a tribute to this unforgettable Predator character

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Dan Trachtenberg talks about the creation of his movie Predator and explains how and why he wanted to honor the character from the first Predator.

This is the movie everyone is talking about. Available on Disney+ in France, the new flick, titled Prey, features an alien facing a young Comanche. Its director, Dan Trachtenberg, really set his action in the 18th century, at the center of the indigenous community. in the given interview Hollywood reportHe partially explains the reason:

I was in third grade when the first Predator came out and I wasn’t old enough to see it. One day I was on my way to a karate tournament with some 6th graders who happened to see him. They spent the entire journey narrating the entire film.

I remember them talking about the scene with Billy, the Aboriginal explorer, who was fighting a predator while standing on a bridge over a chasm. But when I managed to watch the movie, that scene didn’t exist (laughs). We see the beginning, but the sequel is only suggested.

But the seed was planted. I thought it would be good to tell the story of this character. This is not the main subject of the predator, but in spirit, yes.

Billie Solem (Sonny Landham), a supporting character from the first installment alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, impressed, especially in this scene of the fight with the predator, which can be seen above. And even if his death isn’t shown on screen, many fans at the time were convinced that he was saved from editing the VHS version… ultimately immortal.

Sonny Landham also marks the spirits of his co-stars on the set of Predator. The actor known for his outbursts of violence was always accompanied by a bodyguard to protect the rest of the cast from him… the atmosphere.
