21st Brazilian Cinema Grand Prix takes place today in Rio de Janeiro

Live from Cidade das Artes from 8:45 pm, the award will deliver 32 statuettes for renowned productions. Check out the nominees!

The 21st edition of Brazilian Film Grand PrixThis Wednesday (10th). with the long marighella (2021) as a great highlight among the nominees, the award will be broadcast from 20:45 on Youtube of the Academy, on Canal Brasil and on Globoplay.

Organized by the Brazilian Academy of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts, the ceremony will deliver 32 trophies great othello. The awards will be divided between four types of production, namely national feature film, national short film, Brazilian independent series and international productions. Marked by the return of face-to-face events, this year’s edition of Big prizewill be presented by Camila Pitanga and Silvero Pereira. Live from Cidade das Artes, in Rio de Janeiro, it will pay tribute to women producers of national cinema and the feature The Promise Payerwhich turns 60 in 2022.

Based on the book of the same name written by Dias Gomesthe 1962 film was directed by Anselmo Duarte and, in the same year, it became the only Brazilian feature film to win a palm d’or of Cannes Film Festival. With actors like Leonardo Villar and Gloria Menezes in its cast, the film still has Antonio Pitangafather of Camila Pitanga.

Bacurau won six trophies in 2020

With Silvero Pereira in its cast, the 2019 feature was one of the biggest competitors of the 2020 edition of Big prize. In the end, the film became the big winner at the ceremony, winning six of the 15 categories it was nominated for.

In addition to receiving the Best Film award, the most important of the night, the work of Kleber Mendonça Filho and Juliano Dornelles it also took the trophies for Best Direction, Best Actor, Best Original Screenplay, Best Visual Effects and Best Editing Fiction.
