The new installment starring Keanu Reeves will surpass ‘Parabellum’ in minutes.
Just a few weeks ago it was discovered teaser of ‘John Wick 4’, where we saw the first images of this new expansion of the saga, starring Keanu Reeves. Director Chad Stahelsky has confirmed, a few days before the closing of the assembly, that the new installment of the film saga will be the longest. “It is longer than the other three, but not by much. We’re fine-tuning the last sketch of the montage, then would come the special effects, the music… We love the music we’ve got so far, Tyler Bates is doing the compositing on some of the bigger sequences. The visual effects will arrive during the rest of the year. But we’re dangerously close.”
Despite needing a music and graphics post-production adjustment, the director maintained: “Our sequences are done. The movie is essentially over.”
It is true that the exact duration of the film has not been specified, but it can be said that it will exceed the, until now, maximum of 2 hours and 11 minutes. The ‘John Wick‘ original had a duration of 101 minutes; subsequently, it would be surpassed by ‘John Wick Chapter 2‘ with 122 minutes; to finally get to ‘John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum‘, which ran to 131 minutes.
Just as movies were outpacing one after another, this competition was in box office earnings. The former grossed a total of $86 million in 2014; it was followed by the second chapter with a total of 171.5 million in 2017; and finished ‘Parabellum’ with a total sum of 327.3 million dollars in 2019.
That said, and knowing that the upward progression of time has been fulfilled, it is possible to imagine that box office success is more than assured.
‘John Wick Chapter 4’ recounts Keanu Reeves as the protagonist and, despite the fact that the details of the story remain secret, we know that they will accompany him in the main cast Lance Reddick, Rina Sawayama, Donnie Yen, Shamier Anderson, Bill Skarsgård, Hiroyuki Sanada, Scott Adkins, and Clancy Brown. Also, one of the fundamental pillars of the cast in previous installments is once again, Ian McShane playing Winston the manager of the “Continental Hotel”.
