Netflix has unveiled the first look at the return of another of the iconic villains of the ‘Karate Kid’ saga, whom we will see in season 5 of ‘Cobra Kai’. Could this return also help us answer the question: who is Miguel’s father in ‘Cobra Kai’? We’ll see.

A new look at the season sees Sean Kanan reprising his role as ‘Karate Kid Part III’ bully Mike Barnes.which will help Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) expand Cobra Kai’s reach throughout the Valley.
Silver has usurped control of the dojo from his old mentor John Kreese, leaving LaRusso and Lawrence with a much more unpredictable foe to face in the coming episodes. Two other new photos show Silver leading practice at the Cobra Kai dojo, as well as the kids from Miyagi-Do Karate and Eagle Fang Karate having fun..
Earlier in the year, Cobra Kai producer Hayden Schlossberg explained that it was important to continue to honor the Karate Kid franchise as they built their own world. “It’s fun, you expand the universe,” Schlossberg told Variety. “You have new characters, and with new characters, new perspectives and backgrounds”.
“That’s what the modern element brings, but we start with, ‘Hey, you have to remember the roots of history.’ The bonsai grows and you can explore different kinds of characters in a TV series that you wouldn’t explore in the movie.”
The last character to return, Mike Barnes, was recruited by Terry Silver for the Cobra Kai dojo in ‘Karate Kid III’ after earning a reputation for ruthlessness in martial arts tournaments.. Barnes eventually confronted Silver because his wickedness got Cobra Kai kicked out of the All Valley tournament, but it seems that Silver is willing to spare him in order to overthrow Miyagi-do and Eagle Fang.
Cobra Kai returns to Netflix on September 9 with its fifth season.
