WEC: Peugeot confirms Nick Cassidy for 2026; The pilot Testerra in Austin


After leaving Jaguar in Formula E, Nick Cassidy begins a new chapter of his resistance career with Peugeot




Formula Runner-Up and in 2025, Nick Cassidy was announced on Monday (1) as Chief of Peugeot for the 2026 season of the World Endurance Championship (WEC). New Zealand will have its first contact with Peugeot 9×8 immediately after the Lone Star Le Mans phase, with a test scheduled for the Austin circuit in Texas.

After his departure from Jaguar in Formula E, Cassidy joins the official program of the French brand in the Hypercar category, the main WEC. Despite the news, it is not exactly a newcomer at the Resistance: he played six races in 2022 from AF CSE, in the GTE AM class, piloting a Ferrari.

For the technical director of Peugeot Sport, Olivier Jansonnie, the arrival of Cassidy represents an important technical reinforcement:

“We are very happy to receive Nick in the Peugeot program. His experience in various categories, his technical approach and his speed make him a precious resource for the team,” said Jansonnie.

At 31, Cassidy also celebrated success:

“I am very proud to join Peugeot for the FIA ​​WEC 2026. Running for such an iconic brand in the Resistance – especially in the 24 hours of Le Mans – is the realization of a dream. I can’t wait to contribute to the team’s objectives and to face this new challenge.”

The 9×8 Peugeot returns to the track this Friday 6 September, for the first two free training sessions. Saturday there is the classification for the solitary star Le Mans, the 99th History race WEC. The start is scheduled for Sunday 7 September, at 13 hours (local time) – 21h Brasilia Time.
