Paulistano Sérgio Sayeg explores paternity on a album that mixes American soul with classic MPB, expanding his sound with funky pianos and beats

Session (Artistic name of Paulistano Sérgio Sayeg) announced his third studio album, Small Dizziness of Lovewith launch scheduled for November 7 by the US label Mexican Summer. The announcement comes with the music video “It is worth it”first single from the album.

The new work marks a significant change in the artist’s career. Different from previous albums – Greatness (2019), focused on desire, and Star (2022), about love relationships – this disc reflects on the experience of becoming a father.

Changes in sound and the creative process

Recorded in the studio Cosmosin São Paulo, between April 2024 and March 2025, the album presents instruments that did not appear in the previous works of Session: Electric pianos, synthesizers, Wah-Wah guitars and electronic batteries. Production maintains elements already known as guitar and Afro-Brazilian percussions.

“For the first time, I saw the music leave the center of my life to occupy a more secondary place,” explains Session.

This reorganized my priorities and brought new artistic opportunities. The song became more mixed with my daily life.

The artist describes the sound as “more night, open, crooked and funky”, citing influences ranging from Shuggie Otis, Roy Ayers and Sly Stone to Brazilians Erasmo Carlos, Tim Maia and Hyldon.

First single evokes MPB classics

“It is worth it” It is one of the central tracks of the album. Session Plays a Suette electric piano (rare Brazilian keyboard, comparable to Fender Rhodes) and sings verses like “stones on the way / sparkles on my floor / dribbles of destination / I will”. The song remembers the sound of “Dreams and Memories 1941-1972”classic Erasmo Carlos 1972.

The music video, directed by Rollinos In Super 8 Film, Show Session playing guitar in nature and studio next to Biel Basile (battery) and MARCELO CABRAL (low), the same musicians who participated in the recording.

During this period, he worked at the record store Tropicália in FURSwhere he had direct contact with soul and psychedelia classics.

“I have a theory that the music you fall in love with in your teens or early adulthood stains your soul forever,” comments the artist about this experience that influences his work to this day.
