In the 10th edition of Pink Economy Experienceheld last Monday (8) at MASP, Johnny Hooker paid an exciting tribute to Ângela Ro RO during the panel “What sound is this”conducted by Ademir CorrêaContent Director of Rolling Stone Brazil.

The singer highlighted the impact of the recently deceased artist on Brazilian music and the LGBTQI+community:

She paid a high price for her authenticity in a time of military dictatorship, getting up to say who she was and who loved, in lyrics, songs and statements.

For the artist, Ângela Ro RO He faced repression with courage and became a reference for future generations. “It is a great loss for Brazilian music and for the entire LGBTQI+ community of the country,” he said.

Johnny It also took the moment to reflect on the current challenges of the music market. “After so many evolutions, we still face a male, macho and white market, but the silence is no longer: now who speaks thick is us,” he said, receiving applause from the audience.

Ângela Ro RO He had died hours earlier, on Monday (8), at the age of 75, at the Silvestre Hospital in Rio de Janeiro. The singer was hospitalized since June in the ICU after complications of a pulmonary infection. The death was confirmed by a cardiac arrest after a surgical procedure.
