Bassist Mark “The Animal” Mendoza will not participate in the shows; There are no confirmed dates for first tour since 2016

*Text by Jon Blistein, Rolling Stone USA / O Twisted Sister will meet next year to celebrate your 50th birthday, but will be without the longtime bassist Mark Mendoza.

Despite the big announcement, the group did not share important details about the tour, how when it will happen and what cities the band will visit. It will be the first tour since 2016, when they embarked on what should be their farewell, 40 and F#ck it. Since then, the band has only gathered once in 2023 to commemorate their entrance to the Heavy Metal fame hall.

Although Twisted Sister has undergone numerous changes in training over the years, the 2026 meeting tour will feature the three main members: the singer Dee Sniderthe founding guitarist (and oldest member) Jay Jay French and the longtime guitarist Eddie Ojeda.

On the battery will be Joe Francowhich played briefly with them in the mid -1980s and participated in the album Love is for suckers (1987). The most recent drummer had been Mike Portnoywhich replaced the longtime member AJ Pero After his death in 2015 and also at the Hall of Heavy Metal Hall of 2023.

But the absence of Mendoza on the bass is undoubtedly the most notorious change in the formation of Twisted Sister. He joined the band in 1978 and was part of the band’s peak in the 1980s, as well as his career during the 2000s, which culminated in the farewell tour in 2016. He also played at the 2023 Heavy Metal fame show.

French, in a statement to Rolling Stone, stated:

“I, Dee and Eddie played as Twisted Sister for almost 50 years with 10 downs and different drummers. The band has never discussed a change in training before and has no intention of doing so now. Just say that almost all the bands with 50 years of history have been changing training as a consequence of time. We wish Mark success in their future enterprises.”

A representative from Mendoza did not immediately return the request for Rolling Stone comment.

The Twisted Sister meeting tour will have Russell Pzütto in the bass. Pzütto has played with the group in the past and was also part of the bands in Snider’s solo projects.

In addition to the unique show in 2023, Twisted Sister remained firm in its policy of no more meetings. However, Dee Snider admitted during an appearance on a podcast last year that the band’s opinion on the subject was changing.

In a statement announcing the tour, he proclaimed:

“If you are lucky enough to be in a band that people still want to see after fifty (!), How not to answer the call? In 2026, Twisted F#Cking Sister will go up to the stage around the world because we still want rock!”

French added:

“Since February 2, 1976, in a small bar called The Turtleneck Inn in Hunter Mountain, New York, Dee Snider, Eddie Ojeda and I called ourselves Twisted Sister and we stayed side by side for almost five decades, undergoing numerous changes in personnel and thousands of presentations. Performatic that inspired and will continue to inspire millions of fans around the world.
