Tottenham coach suggests technical time and criticizes the ball’s rule on the ball

Thomas Frank defends changes to make football more right and avoid excessive sanctions

Tottenham lives a good start for the season under Thomas Frank’s command. The Danish coach, in office since the beginning of 2025/26, defends the ideas that, according to him, could transform football.

“I would have had a technical moment every time. From the point of view of the coach, it would be nice to be able to talk to the players during the game and adapt something,” he said in an interview with Bet Mgm, the club’s sponsor.

The coach criticizes the touch of the hands rule

At 51 and working in England since 2016, Frank also questioned one of the most controversial rules of sport: the interpretation of the ball on the ball, which generates excess penalties for him.

“I would eliminate this rule because it is not correct. If the ball strikes a player’s arm in the area, give the automatically to the rival the major objective possibilities only for that touch,” he said.

However, the coach stressed that there are exceptions.

“Of course, if the player is in the door line and tries to defend himself as a goalkeeper, there is different. But it makes no sense that any ball that dodges in the arm translates into the best opportunity of the game,” he added.

For Frank, the change would be essential.

“It is a rule that must be revised to improve football and make it more right,” he concluded.
