American singer has hits gallery to set up an interesting show, but offered a slight and uninteresting script on the Skyline stage
It didn’t seem to be a good sign the fact that Jason Derulo have left a DJ in your place for the first 15 minutes of your presentation on the Skyline stage of The Townon Friday night, 12. But if one fifth of the one-hour and 15 minutes presentation was marked by the almost random reproduction of dancing and dancing songs-going from hits from Katy PerrySunday Headliner, 14, the funk carioca – the rest was… not very worthy of note.
In his set “Pra Valer”, the Florida -born American offered a vibrant but bland performance. For someone who regained fame at Tiktok in the pandemic, a decade after having burst with the hits “Whatcha Say” and “In My Head”the choreographies were impeccable. On the other hand, he sinned a lot in the interaction with the audience, which, in the midst of a day with less gifts, seemed disinterested in the attempts of excitement of Derulo and his troupe.
To get an idea, the highlight of the presentation was the participation of the twin dancers Les twinsknown for the previous work with Beyoncé. The pair brought energy and talent that drew attention. Still, such an injection of mood was not reflected in the main artist, who based his repertoire on a series of cut and amended songs, performing them with Playback and Autotune.
As quoted, Tiktok helped derive to regain its popularity. It seems that the singer has an extreme gratitude debt with the social network, as he insisted on promoting his profile on the platform and repeatedly asked fans to follow him and film the presentation to post there. Such insistence, coupled with the repetition of words of encouragement, ended up taking the focus of what really mattered: the music.

And interestingly, Jason has something to offer in this department, as he has a hits gallery. Songs like “Wiggle Wiggle” and “Talk Dirty” They brought back the pop essence that consecrated him and raised the audience with his contagious beats. The reactions were also positive to the samples of other songs, such as “Wicked” (Pedro Sampaio and J Balvin) and “Dame Un Grrr” (Fantomel and Kate Linn).
Overall, Jason Derulo had his moments of brightness, but he put everything to lose in the midst of an uncooked script and excessive appeal to social networks. It did not reach the Akon level of shame of others, but was well below what should be presented on a stage like this.
