The unemployment rate in Brazil retired more than expected in three months until July, at 5.6%, once again marking the lowest level of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics series (IBGE), starting from 2012, showed the data published Tuesday.
The economists consulted in research at Reuters provided that the rate would be 5.7% in the period.
In three months in April, unemployment had been 6.6%.
The population occupied in the quarter ended in July a new record, reaching 102.4 million. During the period, the normal average real workers’ real income grew by 1.3% in the quarter and 3.8% in the year.
The Central Bank, which begins its two -day monetary policy meeting in the midst of the expectation which will maintain the basic interest rate to 15%, has attracted attention to the resilience of the labor market also in the middle of the gradual slowdown of the economic activity.
The dissemination of the July data for unemployment, initially scheduled for the end of August, was postponed after Ibge found the need for technical corrections. The number of three months closed in August will be released on September 30, according to the institute’s program.
