The former Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), Erika McUTUTEFER, in his first comments since he was fired last month by the President of the United States Donald Trump, said Tuesday that the dismissal of the main government statistics is a “dangerous step” with economic consequences.
Trump fired McTentfer, appointed to his assignment by the former president Joe Biden on August 1, hours after the BLS issued a much more weak growth data than expected for July and issued a historically large revision of May and June.
By announcing the resignation, Trump accused McTUTEFER, without evidence, of manipulating the data on employment for political purposes.
“Dressing your statistical garment is a dangerous step … this has serious economic consequences”, has shown media relationships on MCTA’s comments in an event in a university.
“The list of countries that followed this path is not good: Argentina, Greece, Turkey. The consequent loss of trust in economic statistics has led these countries to increasingly worst economic crises, higher inflation and higher loan costs,” said McNTafer.
“If we follow a similar way, all Americans will suffer the consequences”.
Trump has appointed Ej Antoni, head of the Think Tank Conservator The Heritage Foundation, to replace Mcterferfer.
Last week, the BLS data showed that the US economy probably created 911,000 more jobs in 12 months until March of what is previously estimated.
Like all government agencies, the BLS was seriously affected by layoffs, early pension and freezing of the Trump government, part of an unprecedented White House campaign to drastically reduce the size of the government.
BLS, whose workforce is estimated that it has been reduced by about 15%, data collection data suspended from the consumer price index basket in some areas of the country.
