The President of the Chamber of Representatives, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), said that a question will vote on Wednesday to give an urgent regime to the Amnesty project, proposed by the opposition to an eye to forgiveness to the former president Jair Bolsonaro, sentenced for crimes linked to the attempt at a coup.
The decision was announced by Motta after a meeting on Wednesday evening with the leaders of the bench. The urgent request, if approved, will provide a faster procedure to the project.
“Today we will lead the urgency of an invoice by the Vice Marcelo Crivella to discuss the problem,” announced the mayor in X.
“We have different opinions and divergent interests in the events of January 8, 2023. It is up to the Sovereign plenary to decide.”
The original text of the project that can be developed under the urgent regime “grants the amnesty to the participants in the claims of political motivation between 30 October 2022 and the day of the entry into force of this law and other measures”, according to its menu.
The content of the proposal can change, which is very common, by the speaker to be chosen and during the vote at home.
Last week, the first class of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) sentenced the former president for five crimes linked to an attempted coup d’état after his defeat in the 2022 elections and sentenced him to a prison sentence of 27 years and 3 months.
He already meets the domestic arrest for violation of the precautionary measures. The measures were taken in a cause that investigates the execution of the former president and his son Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), who is a federal deputy, with the United States authorities in an attempt to interfere with the cases of Stf against the former president, including the imposition of the US tariffs on Brazilian products.
