Since midnight on Tuesday 23, the speed of speed on the Autostrade di San Paolo has earned the most reinforcement 50 radar. The equipment is part of an offer open by the state government to install 649 radar in 12,000 kilometers of highways managed by the street department (Der). 241 have been installed of this total: the other 408 should be put into operation gradually.

According to Der, the new equipment has been installed in strategic points to reduce accidents. The positions were reported with the permitted speed limit. In some parts, such as SP-036, in Piracaia, the maximum speed is 40 km/h. In others, like SP-253, in Jaboticabal, cars can travel up to 100 km/h without being fined.

The 649 radars assumed by the government, from an offer open in 2023, are installed only on motorways not granted. On the roads under concession, the same dealers install and manage the radars under the supervision of Der. In total, the San Paolo mesh has about 1,700 speed control equipment. In the current lot, the highways of the coast and the interior of the state were contemplated.

According to Der, the choice of each point derives from the technical mapping that considers factors such as the history of accidents, acceleration, geometric characteristics of the road, critical points and areas with fauna crossing.

The other planned radars are being implemented and undergo tests and approval before the operation.
