Thought the Saw franchise was finally down? No! A new chapter of the horror saga will see the light of day.
The puzzle killer is back for round 10! Following Spiral: The Legacy of Saw, which was released in July 2021, the new opus in the horror saga will be directed by Kevin Greutert.
The latter already directed Saw VI and Saw: Final Chapter in 2009 and 2010. variety, the film will be released in the US on October 27, 2023. It will be produced by Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures.
The story of this 10th episode is not yet known. However, the studio promises that fans will be delighted “Twisted and Ingenious New Traps” that they are waiting for them, except a “Unfathomable mystery to be solved”.
If the whole saga brought in about 1 billion dollars worldwide, the last opus was a commercial failure.
Indeed, Spiral only grossed a paltry 40 million internationally for a 20 million budget. Moreover, the critics killed this episode 9. We thought at the time that Jigsaw was finally dead and buried. Obviously, nothing!
“We’ve heard what fans have been asking for and are working hard to create a film that will appeal to both Saw fans and horror fans alike.”said Mark Burg and Oren Kules, producers of the franchise.
“And we’re handing the reins over to Kevin Greitert, the director of Saw VI, which remains a fan favorite in the entire series. More details to come soon.”they said.
Created by James Wan and Lee Whannell in 2004, this horror franchise is one of cinema’s most prolific. The second opus is the biggest success by collecting 147 million dollars.
Saw 10 lands on October 27, 2023 in the United States. Live or die, the choice is yours.
