American singer has just released ‘The Life of A Showgirl’, her 12th studio album, and reflects on the composition process
The Life of a Showgirl12th studio album of Taylor Swiftis now available. The album was released worldwide on Friday, 3, and arrives surrounded by expectations.
The American singer herself admits that she was anxious to know the reception that the new work will have and how the current songs will be absorbed by fans.
In an interview with the program Breakfast with Greg Jamesfrom the BBC Radio 1 (via Music News), Taylor revealed that he had some insecurity about composing being “happy”, living a positive phase in personal life.
It is worth remembering that she has just been engaged to her boyfriend, the football player Travis Kelce. Apparently, the good moment does not “disturb” the composition process.
She comments:
“It’s wonderful. I used to have a dark fear that if I were truly happy and free, being myself and nourished by a relationship, what would happen if writing simply dried?”
Taylor Swift doesn’t depend on torment
Taylor Swift considers that she has overcome this fear and is proud of the new songs, which reflect on her current stage, personal and professionally:
“What if writing is directly linked to my torment and pain? And it turns out that is not the case. With this album, my life is exactly at the same point as I wrote it.”
The Life of a Showgirl
Before the launch, The Life of a Showgirl exceeded five million pre-saves in the Spotifysurpassing the record established by the singer herself with THE TOTURED POETS DEPARTMENT (2024).
THE Rolling Stone Americana gave five stars to the project and said: “Swift reaches all of his goals – from new and exciting soundtracks to an incisive narrative.”
Taylor is also satisfied with the result:
“There are different topics that I think we are experimenting with this album, which are a kind of apex of my work practice to the point where I could do this kind of album.”
