Trump suspends diplomatic contact with Venezuela, says the United States authority

The president of the United States Donald Trump suspended the efforts to reach a diplomatic agreement with Venezuela and told his special correspondent Richard Grenell to stop any contact, a senior authority of the United States said on Monday.

The measure, which was reported for the first time by the New York Times, follows a series of military attacks on ships that bring drugs near Venezuela. Trump told the Congress that the United States are involved in “a non -international armed conflict” with drug signs.

Although Trump is taking into consideration the attacks within the South American country, the American authority told Reuters that the president has not yet established if his military campaign will advance at a second phase.

Trump broadcast the message to Grenell during a meeting at the Oval Hall last Thursday with Senior military leaders, Senior Authority said.

On Sunday, Trump told the members of the US military service that the US attacks on the Venezuela coast had interrupted the flow of drugs by sea and that the United States should have “started watching the earth”. The White House has not revealed further details.

The tensions between Washington and Caracas intensified since Trump returned to the White House in January, with the Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro who denied the US accusations that drugs were produced in the country and claiming that the United States expect to get it out of power.

Trump minimized the possibility of a change of regime in the South American country.

In August, Washington doubled his reward for information that led to the arrest of Maduro at $ 50 million, accusing him of calls with drug trafficking and criminal groups, which Maduro denies.
