Among the images, albums such as The Life (2001) by Ginuwine, Confessions (2004) by Usher and The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill (1998) by Lauryn Hill appear, suggesting a nostalgic and possibly hybrid aesthetic for the new work. There is still no official confirmation about the title, number of tracks or partners, but the movement is already fueling intense speculation among fans and specialized vehicles.
New directions for 21 Savage
If the idea of an R&B album comes to fruition, it would be a change of direction in 21 Savage’s career, who has always focused on rawer rap, as was his last release: American Dream (2024), his third solo album, full of appearances with Doja Cat, Lil Durk, Travis Scott, Young Thug and other renowned names.
In Brazil, 21 Savage was announced as an attraction for Rock in Rio 2024, performing on the main stage of the event, but with a show that divided opinions.
His career is already marked by influential collaborations: the project Her Loss (2022), in partnership with Drakeand Savage Mode IIwith the producer Metro Boomin. Before that, his album I Am > I Was (2018) also had a significant impact, especially the track “a lot“.
With the announcement made for October 18th, what is most speculated is that Savage can revisit modern R&B and soul sounds, with hints of nostalgia and strong collaborations. The visual use of classic covers suggests that he intends to dialogue with the genre’s past while expanding his own identity.
