Moment occurred during the song “Civil War”; band comes to Brazil for 5 shows between the end of this month and the beginning of next

Axl Rose demonstrated in favor of Palestine during a concert by Guns N’ Roses last Tuesday, 7. The vocalist extended the country’s flag during a performance in Bogotá, Colombia, one of the first points to welcome the group on its current Latin American tour — which will pass through Brazil between the end of this month and the beginning of next.

Rose precisely chose a political song for her “silent statement”. Without saying anything, the singer just extended the flag after “Civil War”, song released in 1991 on the album Use Your Illusion II.

The version of the pennant featured an adaptation with an excerpt from the lyrics of “Civil War”. In the record, it is possible to read: “I don’t need your Civil War” (“I don’t need your civil war”).

Check it out in the videos below.

Last song to be recorded with the classic drummer Steve Adler, “Civil War” was composed by Axl Rose together with the guitarist Slash and the bassist Duff McKagan. It initially came out in the compilation Nobody’s Child: Romanian Angel Appeal (1990) and ended up on the album Use Your Illusion II the following year. The composition is about the assassination of the American president John Kennedy in 1963, the Vietnam War and the struggle for civil rights in the United States.

Axl Rose and Guns N’ Roses in Brazil

As reported, Guns N’ Roses returns to Brazil next month. The group, now a septet, will visit five cities with their new tour “Because What You Want and What You Get Are Two Completely Different Things” (“Because what you want and what you will get are two completely different things”).

Shows are confirmed in Florianópolis (21/10, at Arena Opus), São Paulo (25/10, at Allianz Parque), Curitiba (28/10, at Pedreira Paulo Leminski), Cuiabá (31/10, at Arena Pantanal) and Brasília (02/11, at Arena BRB Mané Garrincha). The fourth city, capital of Mato Grosso, welcomes them for the first time.

For all dates, the Raimundos will be the opening attraction. Formed today by Digão (voice and guitar), Marquim (guitar), Caio Cunha (battery) and Jean Moura (bass), the group released their ninth studio album, XXX, in May.

Guns N’ Roses haven’t been to Brazil since 2022, when they played at the Rock in Rio festival and went on a long solo tour. The new visit will be the first with the drummer Isaac Carpenter (former member of Awolnation, Loaded, Loudermilk and other projects), replacing Frank Ferrer, who left after 19 years of service.

After spending 2024 off the stage, Guns N’ Roses recently returned with a tour of Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

In addition to Isaac Carpenter, Guns currently features Axl Rose (vocals), Slash (guitar), Richard Fortus (guitar), Duff McKagan (bass), Dizzy Reed (keyboards) and Melissa Reese (keyboards and synthesizers).
