The publication highlights that CR7 has built much of his wealth with the salaries received throughout his career

Summary

Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first billionaire footballer, with a net worth of $1.4 billion, built mainly from salaries and commercial contracts.

Cristiano Ronaldo has broken records once again, but this time off the pitch. According to the Bloomberg website, the Portuguese is now the first billionaire in the history of football, with a net worth estimated at 1.4 billion dollars (around R$ 7.5 billion at current prices).

The publication also highlights that CR7 obtained this figure mainly thanks to the income from the salaries received during his career, which is considered unusual. As such, he is the first footballer to be included in Bloomberg’s list of billionaires.

According to the agency, the star’s new contract with Al-Nassr is worth more than $400 million (about 2.1 billion reais). In his first contract with the Arab club, the forward received around $200 million (around R$1 billion). Over the course of his career, the star received, between 2002 and 2023, more than $550 million (R$2.9 billion) in salaries.

CR7’s assets, however, have also been increased with commercial contracts with famous brands, such as Nike, Armani and Castrol. Furthermore, the athlete has personal investments in the fashion industry, tourism, a hotel chain and small businesses in Portugal.
