In a statement published on X (formerly Twitter), Netanyahu highlighted the return of the Israeli hostages. “A great day for Israel. Tomorrow I will ask the government to approve the agreement and bring home all our beloved hostages,” he said.
“I thank the heroic soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and all the security forces who, through their courage and sacrifice, have brought us to this day. I thank President Trump and his team from the bottom of my heart for rallying for this sacred mission to free our hostages,” he said.
Hamas confirmed the existence of the agreement. “We deeply appreciate the efforts of our brother mediators in Qatar, Egypt and Turkey. We also appreciate the efforts of US President Donald Trump, who seeks a definitive end to the war and the complete withdrawal of the occupation of the Gaza Strip,” the group said in a statement.
The organization, however, asked that the terms be respected in full. “We call on President Trump, the states guaranteeing the agreement and the various Arab, Islamic and international parties to compel the occupying government to fully implement the requirements of the agreement and not allow it to evade or delay the implementation of what was agreed.”
Donald Trump announced the deal through his Truth Social network, describing the deal as the “first phase of the Gaza Peace Plan.”
“I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have signed the first phase of our Peace Plan. This means that ALL hostages will soon be released and Israel will withdraw its troops on an agreed-upon line, as the first step towards a strong, lasting and everlasting peace,” Trump wrote.
