Viewers may have already guessed that medical drama changes things the way it is Grey’ Season 18 is over. the addition of five new regular series and the shocking news that Ellen Pompeo will only appear in eight episodes this season. But Kevin McKidd’s take on season 19 makes it seem like there may be more turmoil than we thought, as the actor quit shortly before calling next season a reboot of the series.

The actor discussed what fans can expect when ABC’s silver producer returns in October, with Five “gorgeous” actors join the main cast of season 19 as first-year residents at the Gray Sloan Memorial. McKidd said people that this new group will be part of a “series reboot of sorts”. He said:
We have this amazing group of new interns, bright, young and dynamic actors who are truly passionate. So make room for that. It’s almost like going back to the beginning, if that makes sense. We’re not really rebooting, but it’s definitely the pilot episode where Sandra Oh and TR Knight first entered the hospital. We do it again. And it’s very exciting to hear that we’re all a part of it.

This is far from the first season that will see rookies enter the mix at CHU. Many fan favorites started as part of a “new class” and worked their way up, including Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams), April Kepner (Sarah Drew) and Levi Schmitt (Jake Borelli). However, this is the first time we see it Grey’s Anatomy introduce new smiling and optimistic trainees who have the potential to become the main characters after the mass exodus occurred in the season finale.
After Cormac Hayes (Richard Flood) is already losing in the series At the start of season 18, the finale saw Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) and Catherine Fox (Debbie Allen) take a gap year, Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) prioritizes her health retired and Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) and Owen run away. And, of course, there was a breakthrough that resulted in the loss of all residents due to the closure of the teaching program.
with a lot Grey actors under contract until season 19 , it still seems safe to assume that many of these characters will be rewritten on the show at the start of the new season. But after Kevin McKidd’s comments, should we expect to primarily follow the stories of Alexis Floyd, Niko Terho, Harry Shum Jr., Adelaide Kane, and Midori Francis? Is this group of five really our new Meredith, Cristina, Izzie, George and Alex?
There is about a month to go before I know the answer, but this new information intrigues and excites me more than ever. Grey’s Anatomy Season 19 premieres at 9 p.m. ET on Thursday, October 6 on ABC, following the season six premiere of its Seattle spinoff. Station 19 which will see his rise to series regulars .
