The romcom dominance of Purple Hearts (Purple Hearts in VO) is coming to an end. Vampire comedy Day Shift has been topping the charts since its release on Netflix last Friday. It must be said that a film of this genre has everything to like: star Jamie Foxx, action, humor, well-choreographed fight scenes, gore, Snoop Dogg in full swing, and an effective, albeit contrived, script.
Day Shift tells the story of Buddy, a busy dad and vampire hunter. When his ex-wife tells him she’s moving to the other side of the country, he has a week to raise the money he needs for school…and his daughter’s dental braces.
The film marks the third collaboration between Foxx and the streaming platform. Two years ago, at the same time, Netflix released Project Power, where the actor played superheroes with Joseph Gordon-Levitt. He then went on to star in the more intimate series, “Stop Dad, You’re Shame On Me!”, which was unfortunately canceled after one season…
