Paramore singer made a surprise appearance at Radio City Music Hall on the same day as the release of a new song for the Netflix series
Hayley Williams and David Byrne launched “Open The Door”the duo’s second collaboration. The sentimental ballad is part of the film’s soundtrack TheTwits from the Netflixbased on the children’s novel by Roald Dahl from 1980. In the film, two children and a family of magical animals face villains who try to take over the city.
On the same day of launch, October 10, 2025, Williams made a surprise appearance at the show Byrne at Radio City Music Hall in New York. The vocalist of Paramore sang with Byrne the duet “What Is the Reason for It?”from the album Who Is The Sky? released by the musician in 2025. Later in the show, Williams returned to the stage to perform “Hard Times” of Paramoresong that Byrne had already recorded a cover and included it regularly on his current tour.
The partnership between Williams and Byrne started in 2023/2024 when the Paramore recorded cover of “Burning Down The House” for the re-release of the concert film Stop Making Sense 1984, produced by A24. In an interview with the magazine People, Byrne declared that he maintains regular contact with Williams since then and expressed admiration for the singer’s talent, highlighting her sincere and close connection with the audience.
Byrne revealed that “What Is the Reason for It?” it emerged organically when both were in the same city simultaneously. The musician sent a text message to Williams asking if she would like to participate in the recording, and she immediately accepted.
Hayley Williams has been having an intense few weeks, promoting his latest solo album Ego Death At A Bachelorette Partyreleased in August 2025. The album’s title track sparked controversy with conservative figures due to a line about a racist country singer, a reference that Williams confirmed to be directed to Morgan Wallen. In a podcast interview Popcast of The New York Timesthe singer declared: “It may be some singers, but I’m always talking about Morgan Wallen. Not give a damn about. Williams responded to comments from Kid Rock through story on Instagramrecounting a childhood memory in Meridian, Mississippi, when he first heard a song by kid Rock during Poplar Springs Elementary’s annual event. The singer wrote that she found the song dangerous and interesting, but later discovered she couldn’t listen to it because the Southern Baptist Church said it was evil. Williams he concluded by ironizing the rapper’s change in position over the years.
