Hamas releases the first 7 hostages in the first round of releases agreed with Israel


The delivery marks the start of the first phase of the US plan to end the war in Gaza, which has killed more than 60,000 people.




On Monday morning (10/13) the Palestinian group Hamas released seven hostages it had held since the October 7, 2023 incursion.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the news: “According to information provided by the Red Cross, seven hostages have been transferred into its custody and are on their way to the Israel Defense Forces and the Israel Security Agency in the Gaza Strip.”

“The IDF stands ready to receive more hostages, who are expected to be transferred to the Red Cross later.”

The information was also confirmed by Red Cross and Hamas spokesmen on the BBC.

A total of 20 hostages are expected to be released on Monday as part of the US plan to end the war in Gaza.
