The day the ceasefire was announced between Israel and the Hamas, Gianni Infantinopresident of FIFArevealed a plan to help rebuild Gaza and from Palestinedestroyed after two years of war. The director has stated that he will bring football back to these regions.

In late September, Infantino, after receiving an award in New York, gave a speech calling for peace in all conflict zones, saying he was moved by the scenes in Gaza, Ukraine and Sudan.

“Today was a historic day for peace in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. Shaped by the leadership of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and the united position of world leaders, it is a new dawn for the entire region and for the entire world,” wrote the leader on the networks of the entity that governs football in the world.

“The role of football is to support, unite and give hope in the region. In Gaza and Palestine we will help rebuild all the football facilities. We will help bring football – together with the Palestinian Football Federation – back to every corner of the country”, continued Infantino.

“We will bring soccer balls, we will build pitches, we will bring instructors, we will help organize competitions and we will launch a fund to help rebuild football infrastructure in Palestine. FIFA has contributed with mini pitches, through the FIFA Arena programme, and we want the whole world to contribute, because football brings hope to children – this is very, very important,” the president said.

“I thank the President of the United States for inviting me to this peace summit and I have made it clear to all world leaders that FIFA is here to help, assist and be available for everything we can do to ensure that this peace process is carried out and achieves the best possible outcome,” he concluded.
