Wandinha’s next series will not be a reboot of previous “Addams Family” stories, but an “eight hour Tim Burton movie”. This is what creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (“Into the Badlands”) said in an interview with Vanity Fair magazine.

According to Miller, the idea that the attraction didn’t look like a remake or reboot was what drove its entire development. They were much more interested in doing something that resembled the previous work of director Tim Burton (“Ghosts Have Fun” and “Edward Scissorhands”), who directed and produced this new series.

Interestingly, Burton was asked to direct the first film “The Addams Family” (1991), but he declined at the time and the role was passed to Barry Sonnenfeld (“MIB: Men in Black”). Apparently the director regretted it, because now he took the opportunity almost instantly.

“He was interested in where he was going, the mystery of the series,” Gough told the magazine. “He had a lot of questions about the work we’ve done on television before and how we managed to get it done. He really liked that he had time to hang out with Wandinha and explore the character and not, you know, wrap things up in one. hour and a half. 45 minutes. “

Despite being willing to talk about different aspects of the series (some photos of which were released this week), the creators still maintain at least one mystery. “We have no comments on Uncle Chico,” Gough said. “Watch the series.”

The series will follow for the first time as a young adult the youngest of the Addams family (which is called Wednesday in English). In the storyline, she is a college student at Nevermore Academy, where she will face some challenges: mastering her emerging psychic abilities, countering a monstrous killing spree that terrorizes the city, and solving a supernatural mystery that involved her parents 25 years ago – all while navigate her complicated new relationships without losing her lovable morbid traits.

In addition to Jenna Ortega (“Scream 5”) as Wandinha, the cast also includes Catherine Zeta Jones (“The Mask of Zorro”) and Luis Guzmán (“Journey 2: The Mysterious Island”) as her parents Morticia. and Gomez Addams. , and Isaac Ordonez (“A Wrinkle in Time”) as his brother Ugly (Pugsley).

For now, the premiere is only scheduled for “soon”.
