This movie is a must watch before watching She-Hulk on Disney+

In the new Marvel She-Hulk series, Disney+ introduces one of the Green Avenger’s greatest enemies, Abomination. A supervillain that can be seen in a previous MCU film…

She-Hulk, Bruce Banner’s cousin, is coming to Disney on August 18th. A young female lawyer who received the same gamma rays as the Hulk was tasked with leading the superhuman legal department. It is in this context that he meets a certain Emil Blonsky. A character MCU fans are familiar with since he appeared in The Incredible Hulk in 2008 when the Green Avengers camped out… Edward Norton.

A rejected film… but canon in the MCU

As Disney+ released the first trailer for She-Hulk, fans were excited to see Tim Roth’s on-screen portrayal of Emil Blonsky, aka the Abomination. Because the Marvel supervillain was already showing The Incredible Hulk, the last solo movie about the big green man to date.

The second film of Phase 1, a feature film directed by Frenchman Louis Leterrier and starring Edward Norton (before he handed it over to Mark Ruffalo). So he was there fighting Blonsky, a soldier who obtained an experimental serum that turned him into a giant monster.

It’s very surprising to see this character again in She-Hulk when the 2008 film was a fiasco and Norton was given half a word to thank (the reasons are still unclear). Thus, this choice shows that Marvel wants to hitch the wagons again. It remains to be seen if the series will make other parallels, and if so, it’s worth (re)watching The Incredible Hulk streaming. Luckily… it’s available on Disney+!

But where did he go?

But what happened to Abomination after his defeat by the Hulk fourteen years ago? That’s the question She-Hulk will have to answer. Especially since the villain is briefly seen confronting Wong in Shan-Chi, implying that he was free at the time. Fans also asked another question: How could he regain his human form while he was trapped in a monster’s body?

Based on Jennifer Waters, the series will have more than one mission: introduce a new superhero and fill the void left by the previous MCU films.
