Brazilian drummer joined the American metal band in early 2024 and is looking forward to recording his first album with the group

The first album by Eloy Casagrande with the Slipknot There’s no release date yet, nor any concrete details, but it’s on the way. Who says so is the Brazilian drummer himself, who joined the band at the beginning of 2024.

In an interview with Drummer’s Review (via NME), Eloy made it clear that the American nu metal group is composing the successor to The End So Far (2022).

Initially, he stated:

“We are ‘cooking’ (‘preparing’, in free translation), we will definitely make some new songs.”

Then he added, still without giving many details, but talking about the band’s composition process:

“Since I joined the band, we’ve been working on some new ideas. We keep swapping guitar riffs, drum beats, so we’re always doing something. We’ve also had some jam sessions.”

Eloy Casagrande’s expectations

According to the 34-year-old drummer, with experience in Grave and Andrew Matosthere is great anticipation for releasing their first record with Slipknot. He highlights that work is ongoing:

“So we have a lot of material now. We just need to sit down and put it all together, start playing, and it’s happening. It’s already happened. It’s going to happen in the future. So, for sure, new material is coming.”

Slipknot’s possible new album

In January 2025, the percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan stated that the Slipknot There would already be a lot of advances to go into the studio and record the new album.

Interviewed by the blog Knotfest (via Igor Miranda website), he said:

“We have a new album. We’ll start at some point. I just want to go into it with an energy like I’m starting all over again. That’s how I want to approach it (the record).”

Months later, however, the guitarist Jim Root cooled tempers. In May, he declared that everything the band had written during the pandemic would be discarded because it was not satisfactory in terms of quality. The new album, therefore, would be born from scratch, which would take a little longer to happen.

Jim told Guitar Interactive (via Igor Miranda website):

“There’s a lot of songs that were written during Covid that I’m not interested in. And I think everyone in the band understands that too, and I think they’re kind of like, ‘OK, we kind of need to maybe sweep all this sh*t under the rug and start over.'”
