what are you talking about
A fascinating account drawn from countless hours of Mandy Matney’s popular podcast, based years after the Murdow case, in which Alex Murdoch was convicted of murdering Maggie and their son Paul.
What you need to know
In 2023, Netflix puts a new true crime on the Internet, a criminal case that sparked passions in the United States two years earlier, but ultimately never crossed American borders.
We discover the history of the Murdow family, whose father was arrested for the murder of his wife and child. A seemingly banal story, but which is hidden behind the story of a dynasty consumed by blood and crime.
It didn’t take long for a feature series to address this topic. In 2024, Disney/Hulu reveals that it is producing a spin-off series from Liz Farrell and Mandy Matney’s podcast, which originally covered the case. And the casting will be announced immediately.
These are the physically transformed Jason Clarke and Patricia Arquette, who play on screen the patriarch Murdow and his wife, who will later be killed. Brittany Snow (Pitch Perfect) is cast as one of two journalists on the podcast.
Episode 8 of The Murdow Murders immerses us in the intimacy of this family built around deception. Alex Murdow seemed to have it all: wealth, status and privilege in Hampton County, South Carolina, where four generations of Murdows built a sprawling legal dynasty.
But when a fatal accident engulfs Alex, his wife Maggie, and their sons Buster and Paul, Murdow’s facade of omnipotence begins to crumble, prompting Alex to take even more desperate measures to save the family name and protect his dark secrets.
Disney+ is streaming the first three episodes of Murdaugh Murders online this Wednesday, giving you a pretty good look at this broken family. After Amanda Knox on Natalia Grace and Good American Family, the platform proves to be a must-have place to host these programs, based on legal scandals.
