There’s more than just Reacher on Prime Video. Long before the most muscular man in streaming hit the platform, there was another hero who managed to conquer Prime Video. We’re talking about Bosch, of course.
Produced by Amazon Studios and Fabrik Entertainment, the Bosch series first aired on Prime Video in 2014. Starring Titus Welliver as Hieronymus “Harry” Bosch, the series ran for seven seasons before ending. It also spawned two spinoff series, Bosch: Legacy and Ballard, the latter of which was recently renewed for a second season.
Which Prime Video series will get prequel rights?
According to Deadline , it has been announced that a new Bosch prequel titled Bosch: Start of Watch is in development and will premiere on MGM+. The series stars Cameron Monaghan (revealed in Shameless) as a young Harry Bosch, and Omar Hardwick (The Force) as his training officer, Eli Bridges.
“There is no direct source material for Start of Watch like the novels It doesn’t include the Bosch prequels, although hints about Harry’s early years are scattered throughout the various books in the universe, with Connelly calling the prequels uncharted territory for the character.” – mentioned in the Deadline article.
series “Set in 1991 Los Angeles, it follows 26-year-old Harry Bosch (Cameron Monaghan) in his early years as a rookie cop. The series explores a city on the brink, plagued by racial tension, gang violence and a divided local police force. Amid routine calls and escalating chaos, Bosch finds himself caught up in a high-profile heist and a web of criminal corruption that will test his loyalty to his badge and shape his future as a detective who lives by the code: “Everybody matters, or nobody matters..'”
Who is behind the series?
Bosch: Start of Watch is co-created and produced by Tom Bernardo, who will serve as series showrunner, and Brian Anthony. Connelly, Henrik Bastin, Jamie Boscardin Martin and Jasmine Russ are also executive producers.
Bernardo said in a statement:It’s a great privilege to be able to explore the origins of this iconic character and the Los Angeles that shaped him in the early 1990s. In telling the story of young Harry Bosch, we want to honor the loyalty of Michael Connelly’s many readers and the wonderful audience that has followed Bosch and Bosch: Legacy over the years. We are excited to be on this adventure.“
A release date for Bosch: Start of Watch has not yet been announced.
