The new hybrid BYD Song Pro is already assembled in Brazil and will be present at COP30


The 30th Conference of the Parties will mark the arrival of the Chinese automaker’s new model




BYD continues to accelerate its expansion in Brazil and now has a new milestone to celebrate. The Song Pro flexible hybrid, the brand’s first car equipped with this technology adapted to ethanol, is already being assembled in the country and will make its official debut in style: at COP30, in Belém (PA), next month.

Called the COP30 Special Edition, the model arrives in a symbolic run of just 30 units, which will be used exclusively during the climate conference. More than just a launch, the SUV represents a strategic step in electrification with Brazilian DNA, as the flexible plug-in hybrid set was developed in collaboration between Chinese and Brazilian engineers.

Even with little technical information released, we know that BYD’s DM-i system promises to combine the best of both worlds: the 1.5 naturally aspirated engine — already familiar from the King, Song Pro and Song Plus models — has been adapted to run on any ratio of ethanol and gasoline, along with a 197 hp and 30.6 kgfm electric motor. Total power should be between 223 and 235 HP, depending on the versions.

The range announced for the electric mode is also impressive. The GL version comes with a 12.9 kWh battery, which the automaker says is capable of traveling up to 39 km without using a drop of fuel, while the GS can reach up to 62 km with the larger 18.3 kWh battery.
