To ensure a satisfying development and a conclusion to meet the expectations of fans, the producers of the Harry Potter saga decided to split the adaptation of the last novel of the same name into two parts. In the first, broadcast tonight on TF1, Harry, Ron and Hermione set off in search of a Horcrux.
For the first time, this film takes us outside the comforting walls of Hogwarts to follow the heroes on the run. They find themselves increasingly isolated and vulnerable to the outside world, which is particularly hostile. Behind the camera, David Yates, who helms the series’ fifth opus, adopts a more realistic style that approaches documentary to best capture the frenetic pace of the journey undertaken by the three protagonists.
Darker and more mature, this last chapter deserves attention for its emphasis on the psychological aspect. For once, however, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 includes anthology action scenes: the seven Harrys in Privet Drive, a chase through the heart of London, a never-before-seen scene in the Forbidden Forest.
