Actress Kirby Howell-Baptiste, who plays Death in “Sandman”, has joined the cast of “Sugar”, a new series on Apple TV +, to be directed by Brazilian Fernando Meirelles (“City of God”, “Dois Papas “).
Created by screenwriter Mark Protosevich (“Thor”, “I Am Legend”), “Sugar” stars Colin Farrell (the Penguin in “Batman”), who is also an executive producer.
The series is a private detective story set in Los Angeles, but other details remain hidden.
The project is from production company Genre Films, directed by Simon Kinberg (“X-Men: Dark Phoenix”), and the deal with Apple marks the company’s second series on the platform. The first was the sci-fi “Invasion”, released last year and renewed for its second season.
