Osasco/São Cristóvão Saúde opened the 2025/26 domestic season in the same way they ended the previous one: celebrating a title. Current champion of the Copa Brasil and the Superliga, titles won against Sesi Bauru, the team coached by Luizomar de Moura won the first women’s volleyball Super Cup in its history – a competition that officially opens the club’s season – beating Bauru’s team by 3 sets to 0 – partials 25-17, 25-19, 28-26 – this Saturday evening (18/10), at the Ginásio Guanandizão, in Campo Grande (MS).
Luizomar made changes to Osasco compared to the team that was the basis of the Campeonato Paulista. Argentine opposite Bianca Cugno made her debut for Osasquense, starting in place of Tifanny, and center back Larissa was the option in place of Valquíria. Cugno was the top scorer of the match with 20 points and won VivaVôlei. The rest of the team took the court with setter Jenna Gray, center Mayhara the advice Maira e Caitie Baird and libero Camila Brait.
Coach Henrique Modenesi maintained the base of the San Paolo champion Sesi Bauru with setter Dani Lins, opposite Bruna Moraes, central defenders Diana and Mayany, wingers Kasiely and Acosta and libero Léia. Nia Reed entered in the second set and was Sesi’s leading scorer with 10 points.
Osasco dominated the match
After easily winning the first set (25-17), Osasco also started dominantly in the second half and moved up 10 to 6, maintaining good regularity in attack with Bianca Cugno and marking Sesi Bauru’s attack well. Sensing that the team needed more aggression in turning the ball, Modenesi overturned the 5-1 with Amanda and Nia Reed on the pitch and the team reacted by reducing the gap.
Sesi Bauru equalized at 14-14, and it was Luizomar de Moura’s turn to pull off the upset, sending Tifanny and Marina Sioto onto the field. Maiara Basso also went to the match in Maira’s place. Osasco maintains its good offensive performance and creates a wall on the net to reopen a good lead in the final part of the set and close at 25-19.
Luizomar held Maiara Basso in the third set and Nia Reed started at Sesi Bauru in place of Bruna Moraes. The match was balanced until the halfway mark. Sesi’s passing improved and Dani Lins was able to use the ball more in the centre, especially with Mayany. Jenna Gray also diversified the distribution and introduced Mayhara to the game. Sesi had the set point, but Osasco overturned the set to end the match at 3-0.
The Women’s Super League starts next Monday
Osasco and Sesi Bauru now turn their attention to the 2025/26 Superliga, which starts next Monday (20/10). Osasco will face Tijuca on Wednesday (10/22), at 6.30pm, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), broadcast on VBTV (Volleyball World streaming). The same day, Sesi Bauru receives Renasce Sorocaba, in front of his fans, at the Paulo gym Skaffbroadcast on Sportv2.
