M6 Studio is indeed preparing a new animated film entrusted to Alexandre Heboyan and written by the duo Alexandre de la Patellier and Mathieu Delaportia. The budget of this production is 30 million euros. The successful screenwriting tandem, recently recognized for The Count of Monte Cristo, already promises spectacular new adventures for our favorite gals.

A feature film called Asterix – The Kingdom of Nubia hits theaters on December 2, 2026.

Directed by Jonathan Cohen

But a new live-action movie is also in the works! And it is the highly touted Jonathan Cohen who will take over from Guillaume Canet.

This is not the actor’s first experience behind the camera: he has already achieved great success with the two series he produced, La Flamme and Le Flambeau, both broadcast on CANAL+.

This new project is supposed to be inspired by the cult animated film The Twelve Labors of Asterix, directed by René Goskin and Albert Uderzo in 1976, which then attracted 2.2 million viewers in French cinemas.

Jonathan Cohen is currently working on the script, and filming is planned for 2026. A big passing of the torch for the actor, who returns to the comic book world after playing Grindemay in Asterix and Obelix: Middle Kingdom, directed by Guillaume Canet, the final film in the franchise. The release date and the identity of the actors are not yet known.
